30 Minute Phonics

30 minutes a day, recognise and blend 90+ high frequency graphemes. 
A 'teacherless teaching tool' as students become so engaged and intrinsically motivated to move up the Code Levels that they become their own teachers. 
All work at their own pace. 

You will need:

The Monster Mapping Kit Handbook, to 'wire the brain' to be ABLE to learn phonics. 
Students cannot learn phonics without phonemic awareness, and for many this needs to be taught explicitly as it will NOT develop DURING explicit phonics teaching.

Before starting the 30 Minute a Day Phonics Program, they need to be able to 'follow the monster sounds to say the word' and do the Phase 1 Monster Routine.

Phonemic awareness is the most advanced level of phonological awareness, (which is often used to develop speech and language skills) and the element relevant to the learning to read and spell phase (actually 'talking on paper')

It refers to a child’s awareness of the individual phonemes — the smallest units of sound — in spoken words, and the ability to manipulate those sounds, so words are not segmented into syllables, or 'onset and rime', and there are never any 'consonant blends' taught. Students isolate the smallest units ONLY,  segment (order) and blend them. This is essential for dyslexia learners, as all have poor phonemic awareness. Miss Emma initially developed these activities for her students with dyslexia. She specialised in dyslexia when undertaking a Masters Degree in Special Education at Nottingham University.
